Located on the corner of Dog Point Road and Brookby Road, the Highfield TerraVin winery, vineyard and restaurant is an iconic Marlborough landmark designed by Sir Michael Fowler with sweeping views of the Wairau Valley.
This is a rare opportunity to secure the only winery on a hill in Marlborough. The property consists of a total land area of 4.136 hectares across two titles. The vineyard planted area is 1.91 hectares (canopy area 1.61 hectares) (Certified Organic) consisting of Pinot Noir planted 2006-08. The clones of Pinot Noir are 5, 10/5 and 115.
The buildings were constructed circa 1990 with additions in 1994, 1999 and 2002 and comprise of a 600 tonne winery, warehouse including cuvee room and bottling room, plant room and laboratory, staff room and amenities, underground barrel hall/cellar, mezzanine boardroom and offices, cellar door/tasting room, restaurant and kitchen, first floor apartment and viewing tower. Total processing capacity and resource consent is for the processing of up to 600 tonnes of grapes per annum.
Also being offered as part of the sale is the TerraVin Hillside Vineyard 'Calrossie' located at 4646 State Highway 1, Seddon. It has an area of 40.86 hectares with a planted area of 28.97 hectares of three varietals planted: Pinot Noir 14 hectares, Sauvignon Blanc 14 hectares and Chardonnay 0.97 hectares. The vineyard is irrigated via drip-irrigators and has a water right of 25,000 cubic metres with a further 25,000 cubic metres being acquired.
For frost protection the vineyard is fitted with overhead flipper sprinklers. There is an office/accommodation, implement and chemical shed on site. The vineyard has a north west facing aspect and excellent clay based soils, ideal for growing premium quality fruit for the production of premium wines with excellent flavour concentration, character and cellarablity.
